Hi Lisa:
I caught the commercial advertisements which contained brief 10 second cameos of the group surrounding a middle-aged man in a chair who was screaming and talking.
I decided not to watch because at first glance it seemed fake. Was I wrong? Did I miss out on a good story? What else happened?

The JW religion or the person, whose fault is it?
by larc ini just read the tragic story of the man in chicago who beat his daughter to death.
i have read stories here and on silentlambs about sexual abuse.. my question is: how much fault can be placed on the religion and how much on the perversions of a particular individual?
i frankly don't know the answer to this question.

ItsJustMe:
I do not want to excuse or minimize the brutal and vicious atrocity committed by these two fanatics.
However, in the case of the Nazi's tried at Nuremburg, the individuals were held accountable and executed appropriately, BUT the system or mother orgranization that created and empowered them to commit those acts had ALREADY been dismantled.
That is the major difference. These two may get the death penalty (GOOD, I wish I could beat them to death myself), or they may get life or they might be institutionalized. I cannot predict the outcome, but what happens to the mother organization after their day of justice is over?
Who holds the organization accountable for endorsing unclear practices?

JW's and Chronic Fatigue Syndrone!
by cornish inchronic fatigue syndrone, m e, yuppie flu.
.
i dont know if anyone else has noticed the alarming number of jws who claim to suffer from chronic fatigue syndrone,i mean hear in cornwall there tend to be several sufferers in every congregation, outside the jws out of the many people i know i dont know anyone, although there are obviosly many outside the jws who suffer this illness, percentage wise it seems that jws have a much, much larger occorance of the illness.. for example my brother in law has not worked and been living on invalidity benefits for more than 10 years since his mid twenties, his brother is also in the same boat, an m.e sufferer.. i wonder if anyone has looked into this a bit more?

Quid vecere? Otherwise known as "WHO CARES?"
The trinity is so trivial a matter, so overdone, over discussed and settled so many million times on this board that it is a grand waste of time and thought to repeat it again.
Just check out the earlier threads on this subject from the last two years.

Hi Moe:
There are numerous approaches each resulting in a variety of outcomes for your sister-in-law. Before you begin, make sure she is comfortable with the idea of going forward and resisting this insane requirement. If she is, here is one simple idea:
Notify the superintendent of the school district in writing and copy the local news media and the local chapter of the ACLU. I believe if there are still reasonable adults with careers in the balance in your school district, that should end the problem immediately.

It is absolutely unbelievable! While apologetics for the WTBS may claim that these individuals were already unstable or off balance, the simple fact is that for the last 80 years the WTBS has been admonishing, recommending, advising, counseling, educating, condoning, and educating its followers that the word "rod" in the bible is a physical thing.
For years, fundamentalists from many faiths continue the madness of using the word "rod" as a basis for coporal punishment, which usually ends in child abuse and family breakdown during the teen years.Rods in the bible are used as measuring guides, tools for examination, like a ruler or magnifying glass, depending on the subject of study. Where discipline is concerned, the rod is for MEASURING the results and friutage of the EDUCATION previously inculcated by the child's parents.
If the parents did not input any education and training (discipline) then the rod would reveal negative results. It has always been a tool for double-checking the parent's efforts, and not meant to be a tool for blaming and punishing the child.
It's the bible way of telling parents "garbage in, garbage out". And the rod of discipline if the collection of tools used to measure those results.
It is amazing how many miss this simple point and are quickly caught up in authority struggles with simple children. Even a small child can understand this logic. Yet, all of these so-called spiritual men cannot see past their "spiritual badge of enforcement" issued by the WTBS under the guise of rods and discipline. It is pathetic.

Kent:
Thank you very very much for posting this article. This is one of your best human interest stories. You have alot of journalistic and investigative talent.
This story is so powerful, I just hope it receives as much attention as possible, despite the war situation.
This is the type of story that sends one on an emotional roller coaster ride from sadness to rage to confusion and everything in between. I am so angry right now I want to personally execute both parents, and I am also angry that I didn't do anything to save that poor little girl.
I am going to be a mess the rest of the day and useless at work. When does it end? When does the madness cease? I hope for that girl's sake she will be remembered by Almighty God, if he exists.
Thx again for another beneficial, but sad and truthful story.
